Lunch and Snacks

All children receive a healthy snack and mineral water daily. For children staying in the afternoon, a nutritious and well-balanced lunch is provided, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

At KJA, we take food allergies and intolerances very seriously. We are a NUT FREE school and our meals can be adapted to accommodate specific dietary requirements.

Safety

All students at KJA are covered by AAR rescue services, and our team includes teachers and assistants who are fully trained in First Aid.

While every precaution is taken to ensure your child’s safety at school, accidents can occur. Minor injuries will be treated with general first aid procedures, and parents will be informed. In the event of a more serious injury, parents will be asked to collect the child, and if necessary, the AAR ambulance will be called.

Uniform

Children are required to wear the KJA School Uniform and a P.E./Sports Uniform on P.E. days.

All children must wear comfortable shoes that are easy to run and play in, and are simple enough for them to put on and take off independently.

A detailed uniform list will be provided once you have submitted the application form. All KJA merchandise can be found at Haria Outfitters.

Do you need more information?

We recognize that communication between the school and our parents as well as potential parents, is critical to building a healthy and long-term relationship.

Technology has enabled us to communicate in a variety of ways and when it comes to discussing your child, we always welcome a face-to-face conversation

Pastoral Care

At Kabete Junior Academy, we prioritise the well-being, happiness, and development of every child. Pastoral care is a key part of this commitment, supporting each child’s emotional well-being, personal growth, and overall safety. This is especially important in the early years, when children are still learning to understand and manage their emotions, build friendships, and feel secure outside of their home environment.

Our approach creates a safe, nurturing space where children feel confident, supported, and eager to explore. We are proud to support a diverse community of children and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, languages, and experiences.

Strong, trusting relationships between staff, children, and families lie at the heart of our kindergarten, fostering a true sense of belonging. With small class sizes, low adult-to-child ratios, and a dedicated team, we are able to focus on each child’s unique journey—nurturing their social, emotional, and academic development every step of the way.

Our Purpose

At KJA, we aim to help children:

  • Feel safe, happy, and confident in their environment

  • Develop key social and emotional skills

  • Trust that adults are always here to listen, support, and care for them

  • Receive early support when they seem worried, quiet, or upset

  • Build strong, positive connections between teachers and families.

Pastoral care is also closely linked to our safeguarding practices. It enables us to recognise early signs if something may be wrong, so we can act quickly to ensure every child’s safety and well-being.

Class Structure

  • In Elephant Class we create a foundation for lifelong learning by guiding infants through meaningful early experiences. We help children learn how to connect with others, encouraging kindness, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Through playful songs, storytelling, and warm daily conversations, little ones begin to understand and express language in a natural, joyful way.

Outdoor time is an essential part of our infant experience. Our natural spaces invite children to explore textures, sights, and sounds—supporting physical development and sensory growth in a calm and inspiring setting. We know that transitioning into a new environment takes time. We guide each child gently toward independent participation, helping them grow with confidence in our loving community.

  • In Lion Class, we turn each day into an exciting journey of exploration. Our spaces are
designed to spark curiosity, with hands-on projects and playful experiences that unfold both inside and out in nature. Through imaginative themes and guided play, children begin to build early thinking skills—like recognising patterns, identifying sounds, exploring shapes, and understanding simple ideas. We gently support early communication, movement, and problem-solving, always following each child’s unique rhythm.

  • In Giraffe Class we introduce our little learners to early sounds and number concepts in a relaxed, friendly setting. Stories, songs, and movement games keep young minds active and engaged. We also include activities that strengthen little hands and fingers preparing children for future tasks like holding crayons, feeding themselves, and getting dressed with more independence. At this age, learning is all about fun, discovery, and building confidence—and that’s exactly what we nurture every day at KJA.

  • In our Flamingo class, each day is filled with exciting discoveries. Children this age are full of energy and questions—and we make the most of it! Whether they're pretending to be astronauts, digging for bugs, or learning about sea creatures, we turn their curiosity into meaningful learning. Our classrooms and outdoor areas are set up to match their growing confidence and abilities. Through art, games, stories, and group time, children naturally begin to recognise letters, writing words, and play with numbers without even realising they’re learning. This is a big year for building independence. We guide children as they take on new challenges, make friends, and learn how to express their thoughts clearly. It’s a joyful, hands-on experience that helps them get ready for the next big step in their learning journey.

  • Hippo Class/ In Year 1 at KJA, children begin an exciting new chapter as they move into a more structured yet still playful approach to learning. This year marks their first steps into more focused lessons while keeping creativity and curiosity at the heart of everything we do. Through exciting themes and hands-on activities, children build confidence in reading, writing, and working with numbers. They also begin to think more deeply asking questions, solving problems, and exploring how the world works. Storytelling, music, role play, and art continue to play a big role in the classroom, helping children express their ideas in fun and meaningful ways. It’s a year of growing independence, building strong learning habits, and finding joy in new challenges.
